PUBLIC NOTICE – CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR THE LOWHILL TOWNSHIP ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COUNCIL (EAC)
Lowhill Township is seeking residents to serve on the newly established Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), created pursuant to Township Ordinance No. 2026-03.
The Environmental Advisory Council shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors consistent with applicable Pennsylvania law and Township ordinances. The Council may assist the Township in the review of environmental matters, including but not limited to natural resource protection, agricultural preservation, open space preservation, greenway planning, stormwater management practices, environmental sustainability initiatives, and the environmental impacts associated with subdivision, land development, and other planning matters affecting the Township. The Environmental Advisory Council serves solely in an advisory capacity and shall not exercise regulatory or enforcement authority. The Township encourages practical, balanced environmental stewardship that supports the preservation of Lowhill Township's rural and agricultural character while respecting private property rights and responsible land use planning.
The Township is seeking to appoint three (3) to five (5) members to the Council. Initial appointments may be for staggered terms in accordance with the establishing ordinance. Following the initial appointments, regular terms shall be as provided by Township ordinance.
Eligibility Requirements:
Ÿ Must be a resident of Lowhill Township.
Ÿ Demonstrated interest, experience, or background in environmental issues, land use, agriculture, conservation, engineering, planning, forestry, water resources, environmental sciences, or related fields is preferred, but not required.
Ÿ Proof of residency may be required prior to appointment.
Potential Duties May Include:
Ÿ Advising the Board of Supervisors on environmental matters affecting the Township
Ÿ Reviewing subdivision and land development plans for environmental considerations
Ÿ Assisting with implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, greenway initiatives, and open space objectives
Ÿ Recommending conservation strategies and best management practices
Ÿ Assisting with future Lowhill Township conservation, environmental stewardship, and open space preservation programs
Ÿ Promoting awareness of environmental resources and responsible land stewardship within the Township
Members may be required to comply with applicable Township ethics and conflict-of-interest policies. Meetings will be held as needed at the Lowhill Township Municipal Building. Positions are voluntary and uncompensated. Appointments will be made by the Board of Supervisors at a public meeting. SCHUYLKILL TOWNSHIP
NOTICE
The Schuylkill Township Board of Supervisors is considering the adoption of an ordinance. The ordinance would proclaim the status of certain roads in Schuylkill Township, including Tioga Street, Toback Road, Cemetery Road, Hilltop Drive, Hilltop Road, Forest Lane, T-517, School Road, Seneca Street, and Sunny Drive, as public roads pursuant to 53 P.S. Section 67307, for purposes of securing recognition of said roads on the liquid fuels tax road inventory and/or to allow use of liquid fuels funds for maintenance. A copy of the proposed ordinance is available for inspection at the Schuylkill Township Municipal Building at 75 Walnut Street, Mary D, PA 17952, by appointment with the Secretary, Ann Miller, at (570) 668-1039, or on the Schuylkill Township website at https://schuylkilltownship.org.
