The Borough of Catasauqua has received a determination that the proposed Water Meter Replacements project qualifies for a Categorical Exclusion from the environmental review requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) under the State Environmental Review Process (SERP). The proposed project involves the replacement of approximately 2,300 aging and outdated analog water service meters with modern digital water service meters throughout the Borough of Catasauqua. The purpose of the project is to assure the collection of more accurate water usage data system-wide, aid in determining the amount of non-revenue water losses, and enhance meter reading and customer billing efficiencies The project has been determined to be eligible for Categorical Exclusion because it involves replacement of existing infrastructure, and it does not involve new construction or ground disturbance. The project will not individually, cumulatively, or in conjunction with other projects, have a significant adverse effect on the quality of the human environment. Additional information regarding this Categorical Exclusion and the project is available for public review at Catasauqua Borough Hall during regular business hours. Comments regarding this categorical exclusion may be submitted in writing, within 30 days of this notice, to the Borough of Catasauqua, 90 Bridge St, Catasauqua, PA 18032.
