LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following Ordinance will be enacted at a meeting of the Borough Council of Jim Thorpe Borough, Carbon County, Pennsylvania to be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 6:30 p.m., prevailing time, at the Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall located at 115 E. 10th Street, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229 the ordinance is entitled " AN ORDINANCE OF THE JIM THORPE BOROUGH, CARBON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE 2021-06, WHICH AMENDED THE BOROUGH CODE COVERING POLICE PENSION TO INCLUDE AN ACT 44 RETIREMENT PROGRAM." A summary of the contents of the Ordinance is as follows: Section 4A of the 2026 Ordinance will be amended to increase the time frame in which a police officer may participate in the DROP Program from 24 months to 36 months. The full text of the Ordinance in its entirety may be examined at the Jim Thorpe Borough Municipal Building located at 101 East Tenth Street, Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. A copy of the full text of the proposed Ordinance has also been provided to The Times News at 594 Blakeslee Boulevard Drive West, Lehighton, Pennsylvania and the Carbon County Law Library located at the Carbon County Courthouse, Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania and may be examined there.
