Notice is hereby given that the Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners will consider for possible adoption an ordinance, of which this Notice is a summary, that is entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING LOWER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP CODE CHAPTER 27, ZONING, AT PART 2, SECTION 202, "DEFINITION OF TERMS," TO REVISE THE DEFINITION OF "DATA CENTER" AND ADD A DEFINITION FOR "DATA CENTER ACCESSORY USES/STRUCTURES;" AND AT PART 24, SECTION 2406, "SPECIFIC CRITERIA," TO ADD A NEW SUBPART "1.PP. DATA CENTER" LISTING SPECIFIC CONDITIONAL USE CRITERIA FOR THAT USE; AND TO AMEND "EXHIBIT 1: ZONING USE TABLE" TO IDENTIFY A "DATA CENTER" AS A "CONDITIONAL USE" IN THE I-INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT, HE-HIGHWAY ENTERPRISE DISTRICT, AND ORLIC-OFFICE, RESEARCH, LIGHT INDUSTRIAL CENTER DISTRICT AND AS "NOT A PERMITTED USE" IN ALL OTHER DISTRICTS; AND TO ADD AS AN ATTACHMENT TO THE CODE THE LOWER MACUNGIE PARKING REQUIREMENT MATRIX EXHIBIT AS REFERENCED IN SECTION 27-2301 AS AMENDED IN NOVEMBER 2025." The purpose of these amendments is to define certain terms, provide use regulations and conditional use standards, and amend the Lower Macungie Township Zoning Use Chart in regard to data center uses, as well as formally adopt the Lower Macungie Township Zoning Parking Matrix as an exhibit to the Zoning Ordinance. The Board of Commissioners will consider this ordinance at a public hearing on May 21, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Township Municipal Building, 3400 Brookside Road, Macungie, PA 18062. Copies of the full text of this amendment is available to any interested party for inspection and/or copying at the Township Municipal Building, 3400 Brookside Road, Macungie, PA 18062, or for inspection during normal business hours at the offices of this newspaper, East Penn Press, 1633 N. 26th Street, Allentown, PA 18104 and the Lehigh County Department of Law, Room 440, 17 S. 7th Street, Allentown, PA 18101. All interested parties are invited to attend this public meeting. The Lower Macungie Township Municipal Building is accessible to the physically handicapped.
