CITY OF BETHLEHEM NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND BETHLEHEM CITY COUNCIL MEETING PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE PART 13 Notice is hereby given of the intention to hold a Public Hearing on an Ordinance to amend Part 13 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Bethlehem, titled "Zoning Ordinance", at the Bethlehem City Council Meeting on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 7:00 PM in Town Hall, 10 East Church Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. The First Reading shall occur on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 7:00 PM in Town Hall, 10 East Church Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Final Reading is anticipated to take place on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 5:30 PM in Town Hall, 10 East Church Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Title and summary of the Ordinance follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BETHLEHEM, COUNTIES OF LEHIGH AND NORTHAMPTON, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, AMENDING PART 13 OF THE CITY OF BETHLEHEM CODIFIED ORDINANCES TITLED "ZONING ORDINANCE". Summary of the Ordinance is as follows: The Ordinance amends Part 13, titled "Zoning Ordinance", specifically amending the definition of "boarding or rooming house" in Article 1302.13 by providing that the rooms in a boarding or rooming house shall not meet the definition of "dwelling unit"; amending the definition of "hotel" in Article 1302.60 by providing that hotels shall generally rent to transient guests; inserting a definition for "transient guest(s)" at Article 1302.44 defining transient guests as one or more persons that occupy a single dwelling unit or room, suite or other sleeping quarter for money or other consideration for a period of less than 30 consecutive days; amending the additional requirements for a boarding or rooming house in Article 1322.03(h) by deleting the requirement that rooms be rented for a minimum period of 5 consecutive days; amending Article 1307.01 to apply the workforce housing incentive to the CL zoning district; amending Article 1318.26 to provide that no more than one single-family detached dwelling may be located on a lot; and repealing any inconsistent ordinances.
