NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Borough Council of Jim Thorpe Borough will hold a public hearing regarding a proposed Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance of Jim Thorpe Borough. The hearing will be held on July 9, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Jim Thorpe Borough Municipal Building, 115 E. 10th Street, Jim Thorpe, PA.
The summary of the contents of the Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance is as follows:
1. Section 500-12 will be amended to add definitions for Data Center and Data Center Accessory Use.
2. Data Centers and Data Center Accessory Use shall be listed as a special exception use in the industrial zone of the Borough.
3. A new section shall be added setting forth standards for Data Centers and Data Center Accessory uses including dimensional standards, land scape buffer, screening and fencing, noise and vibration, water and sewer, power supply, emergency management aesthetics, parking, decommissioning, utility lines, outdoor lighting, construction hours, closed loop system and facility operator.
The full text of the Ordinance in its entirety may be examined at the Jim Thorpe Borough Municipal Building located at 115 East Tenth Street, Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. A copy of the full text of the proposed Ordinance has also been provided to The Times News at 594 Blakeslee Boulevard Drive West, Lehighton,
Pennsylvania and the Carbon County Law Library located at the Carbon County Courthouse, Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania and may be examined there.
