NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following Ordinance will be enacted at a meeting of the Borough Council Jim Thorpe Borough, Carbon County, Pennsylvania to be held on Thursday July 9, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. prevailing time at the Jim Thorpe Borough Municipal Building, 115 E. 10th Street, Jim Thorpe, PA. The Ordinance is entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF JIM THORPE AMENDING CHAPTER 420 REGARDING VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC." A summary of the contents of the Ordinance is as follows: 1. A new Article to Chapter 420 will address the parking of large vehicles on public streets which may create hazardous and unsafe traffic conditions. 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to park on any public street or public right of way an oversized vehicle, truck trailer, semi-trailer or combination, bus, etc. This Section shall not prohibit the temporary parking of these types of vehicles while actively engaged in loading or unloading of passengers or goods or materials. 3. No recreational vehicles shall be used for living or sleeping purposes while parked on any public streets within the Borough. 4. No persons shall park any large vehicle on a public street to create a traffic hazard or nuisance. 5. Any trailer detached from a motor vehicle and not otherwise prohibited under this ordinance shall be equipped with operable block, parking brakes, or other stabilizer. 6. Exemptions. This chapter shall not apply to emergency vehicles, vehicles owned and operated by the Borough or the United States Postal Service, vehicles actively engaged in Public Utility Construction Maintenance or repair work or vehicles for which a temporary permit has been issued by the Chief of Police. 7. A definition section shall be added to define a motor vehicle, nuisance, oversized vehicles, recreation vehicle, traffic hazard, truck trailer and truck. 8. Enforcement. The full text of the Ordinance in its entirety may be examined at the Jim Thorpe Borough Municipal Building located at 115 East Tenth Street, Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
