FT POLICE OFFICER TESTING LEHIGHTON BOROUGH CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION NOTICE OF FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER TESTING The Lehighton Borough Civil Service Commission will be administering an entry level examination to fill a vacancy for Police Officer and to update the Civil Service List. The examinations, agility, oral and written tests will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The physical agility testing will be administered at Baer Memorial Park at 9:00a.m. Location of the written and oral examination will be at the Lehighton Borough Hall, 1 Constitution Avenue, Lehighton, PA at 11a.m. The Borough of Lehighton is located in Carbon County, Pennsylvania and has a population of 5,300. The Lehighton Police Department currently has 11 sworn, full time officers. For the year 2026, the base salary is $86,794.85. An entry level police officer starts at 75% of the base salary ($65,096.14); they will reach 100% after four years of service. A newly hired officer who has at least two years of full-time service as a police officer will start at 90% of base salary ($78,115.37); reaching 100% after two years of service. Officers are also entitled to an employee benefits package, longevity bonuses, and newly added $2,000 sign on bonus. Employee will forfeit sign on bonus if not retained by employer or self terminates within the first 18 months of employment. All applicants for the examination must submit a completed application. Applications may be picked up at the Lehighton Borough Hall, 1 Constitution Avenue, Monday through Friday, between 8:30a.m. and 4:30p.m. Applications must be returned to the Office of the Borough Secretary by Friday, January 30, 2026 at 4:00pm. Testing and hiring of entry level police officers will be pursuant to the Borough of Lehighton Civil Services Rules and Regulations. The receipt of applications and testing is not a guarantee that the Lehighton Police Department will be hiring in 2026. Applicants for testing must be a U.S. citizen; must be age 21 on or before date of written test; must be a high school graduate or possess a GED; and must have a valid Pennsylvania operator's license. Evidence of Veteran status must be presented upon submission of the application. Evidence of successful completion of Act 120 training must be provided if and when hired.
