NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following Ordinance will be enacted at a meeting of the Borough Council of Jim Thorpe Borough, Carbon County, Pennsylvania, to be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. prevailing time at the Jim Thorpe Borough Municipal Building, 115 E. 10th Street, Jim Thorpe, PA. The Ordinance is entitled " AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF JIM THORPE, CARBON COUNTY, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA AMENDING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CHAPTER OF THE BOROUGH OF JIM THORPE CODE." The summary of the contents of the Ordinance is as follows: Section 26.2(B) shall be restated to provide that the standard operating procedures shall be prepared by the Fire Commissioner who will present them to the Emergency Services Committee for review and comment. The final version shall be forwarded to Borough Council for approval. Section 26-3(E ) shall be restated to provide that the Fire Department may engage in any ceremony or parade as may be deemed appropriate by the Fire Chief, Fire Commissioner or Deputy Chief, subject to approval by the Borough Council. Section 26-6 shall be restated to provide that the Officers of the Fire Department shall consist of one Fire Commissioner, one Fire Chief and three (3) Deputy Fire Chiefs. Section 26.6 shall be restated to provide that the Fire Commissioner, Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chiefs shall be appointed by Borough Council annually and serve at the pleasure of council. Further, the Fire Commissioner, Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chiefs and Chairperson of the Borough Emergency Services Committee as a committee shall appoint the remaining officers of the Fire Department. Section 26-7 shall be amended to provide the powers and duties of the Fire Commissioner. Section 26-8 shall be amended to provide the powers and duties of the Fire Chief.
