CITY OF BETHLEHEM NOTICE OF BETHLEHEM CITY COUNCIL MEETING PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 1731 AND ARTICLE 119 Notice is hereby given of the intention to consider an Ordinance to amend Articles 1731 and 119 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Bethlehem at the Bethlehem City Council Meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 7:00 PM in Town Hall, 10 East Church Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018, on First Reading. Final Reading is anticipated to take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Title and summary of the Ordinance follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BETHLEHEM, COUNTIES OF LEHIGH AND NORTHAMPTON, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, AMENDING ARTICLE 1731 TITLED "INSPECTIONS" AND AMENDING ARTICLE 119, TITLED "REGISTRATION, SALE AND TRANSFER OF REAL ESTATE" OF THE CITY OF BETHLEHEM CODIFIED ORDINANCES. Summary of the Ordinance is as follows: The Ordinance amends Article 1731, titled "Inspections", to include required provisions from the Pennsylvania Municipal Code and Ordinance Compliance Act, in particular to include provisions extending the time to 12 months for a new purchaser of property to comply with notices of code violations. The Ordinance also adds relevant definitions to Article 1731 and updates language as to when inspections are required. The Ordinance's amendments to Article 119, titled "Registration, Sale and Transfer of Real Estate", are designed to ensure consistency with the changes to Article 1731.
