PUBLIC NOTICE – CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR THE LOWHILL TOWNSHIP ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COUNCIL (EAC)
Lowhill Township is seeking residents to serve on the newly established Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), created pursuant to Township Ordinance No. 2026-03.
The Environmental Advisory Council shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors consistent with applicable Pennsylvania law and Township ordinances. The Council may assist the Township in the review of environmental matters, including but not limited to natural resource protection, agricultural preservation, open space preservation, greenway planning, stormwater management practices, environmental sustainability initiatives, and the environmental impacts associated with subdivision, land development, and other planning matters affecting the Township. The Environmental Advisory Council serves solely in an advisory capacity and shall not exercise regulatory or enforcement authority. The Township encourages practical, balanced environmental stewardship that supports the preservation of Lowhill Township's rural and agricultural character while respecting private property rights and responsible land use planning.
The Township is seeking to appoint three (3) to five (5) members to the Council. Initial appointments may be for staggered terms in accordance with the establishing ordinance. Following the initial appointments, regular terms shall be as provided by Township ordinance.
Eligibility Requirements:
Ÿ Must be a resident of Lowhill Township.
Ÿ Demonstrated interest, experience, or background in environmental issues, land use, agriculture, conservation, engineering, planning, forestry, water resources, environmental sciences, or related fields is preferred, but not required.
Ÿ Proof of residency may be required prior to appointment.
Potential Duties May Include:
Ÿ Advising the Board of Supervisors on environmental matters affecting the Township
Ÿ Reviewing subdivision and land development plans for environmental considerations
Ÿ Assisting with implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, greenway initiatives, and open space objectives
Ÿ Recommending conservation strategies and best management practices
Ÿ Assisting with future Lowhill Township conservation, environmental stewardship, and open space preservation programs
Ÿ Promoting awareness of environmental resources and responsible land stewardship within the Township
Members may be required to comply with applicable Township ethics and conflict-of-interest policies. Meetings will be held as needed at the Lowhill Township Municipal Building. Positions are voluntary and uncompensated. Appointments will be made by the Board of Supervisors at a public meeting. Lowhill Township thanks all residents in advance for their interest in assisting with the preservation of the Township's rural character, agricultural heritage, natural resources, and overall environmental quality.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP ZONING HEARING BOARD, AT 6:30PM ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2026 AT THE TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL BUILDING, 4225 EASTON AVENUE, BETHLEHEM, PA 18020 WILL HOLD PUBLIC HEARINGS, AMONG OTHER ISSUES, CONCERNING THE FOLLOWING:
Appeal #11-2026 of Bertrand KG Famawa and Evelyne Famawa seeks relief concerning real estate located at 3211 Highfield Circle, Bethlehem Township, Northampton County. The relief requested is a dimensional variance from Bethlehem Township Zoning Ordinance Section 275-190.D(7)(b)[1][c], which requires that a fence located within a front yard be no higher than five feet; a variance from Bethlehem Township Zoning Ordinance Section 275-190.D(7)(b)[1][a], which requires that a fence located within a front yard be of open-picket design having a minimum 1:1 open to structural components; and, a dimensional variance from Bethlehem Township Zoning Ordinance Section 275-42.E(1), which requires a front yard setback for principal and accessory structures of 35 feet. Appeal #14-2026 of Ambridge and Sons, LLC seeks relief concerning real estate located at 1741 3rd Street, Bethlehem Township, Northampton County. The appellant seeks to appeal a "Notice of Violation" issued by the Bethlehem Township Zoning Administrator on April 21, 2026. The Zoning Administrator issued a "Notice of Violation" to the appellant regarding installation of a driveway expansion without a permit in violation of Bethlehem Township Zoning Ordinance Section 275-8, installation of a gravel driveway without a permit in violation of Bethlehem Township Zoning Ordinance Section 275-8, construction of a gravel driveway which does not conform to standards of Bethlehem Township Zoning Ordinance Section 275-144.E(1), construction of a driveway expansion that does not conform to Bethlehem Township Standard Construction Documents standards in violation of Bethlehem Township Zoning Ordinance Section 275-10.B(2), and failure to obtain a state Highway Occupancy Permit for a driveway expansion along Freemansburg Avenue in violation of Bethlehem Township Zoning Ordinance Section 275-144.D(6). The appellant is seeking a determination that the challenged improvements were preexisting and in their current state when the property was purchased and therefore the Zoning Administrator's determination is invalid. The real estate is located in the Medium-Density Residential (MDR) Zoning District and the Neighborhood Enhancement Overlay Zoning District, maintains Northampton County Tax Parcel Identification Number N7NE4 49 2A 0205 and is described in Northampton County Deed Book Volume 2021-1, Page 385425.
